How to solve without guessing
Place an X in squares where a pup cannot go. Once you place a pup, cross out the rest of that row, column, and color region, then every neighboring square. Look for a row, column, or region with just one open possibility and repeat. If a move creates a conflict, clear it and check the rule you missed.
